Hardware preparation

The following steps are the steps required to install ATraqII. There are four alternatives to install the ATraqII:

Fully on-prem

This requires that the ARC purchase two servers (or have a server that can virtually handle two servers) with the following requirements:

  • At least 16Gb of RAM each or 32Gb in total
  • At least 50Gb of SSD for the Application and 150Gb of SSD for the databases
  • At least 2019 MS SQL server or above, any will do. We will install the second database ourselves
  • Windows 2022 or Linux Ubuntu 22.04 or higher
  • Docker V23 or higher

Applicaition in cloud and database on-prem

This requires that the ARC purchase one server to handle the two databases (or have a server that can virtually handle the databases). The requirements of the server is as follows:

  • At least 16Gb of RAM
  • At least 150Gb of SSD for the databases
  • At least 2019 MS SQL server or above, any will do. We will install the second database ourselves

For the application to be installed on cloud, please make sure that you have one of the following servers:

  • Standard E2as V4 (2 vCPUs, 16 Gb memory) + 50Gb SSD with Windows 2022 or higher

    Or

  • Standard_B2s + 50Gb SSD with Linux Ubuntu 22.04 or higher

Docker V23 or higher

Type differences

The above mentioned virtual server types are generally pretty common however we have used Microsoft Azure as a reference.

Application and database in cloud

This requires a cloud based virtual server that can handle the entire system: General purpose A4m_v2 (4 vCPUs, 32 Gb RAM, 40Gb SCSI) +150 Gb SSD Optional:

  • Windows 2022 or higher

    Or

  • Linux Ubuntu 22.04 or higher Docker V23 or higher

Application on-prem and database in cloud

This requires that the ARC purchase one server to handle the two databases in the cloud and the applications on the server that is on-prem (or have a server that can virtually handle the application server). The requirements of the server is as follows:

  • At least 16Gb of RAM
  • At least 50Gb of SSD for the application server
  • Windows 2022 or Linux Ubuntu 22.04 or higher
  • Docker V23 or higher The database in the cloud can have a dynamic size growth for MS SQL 2022 and higher. Make sure you use public IP for remote access.
Tested cloud services

The companies that we have tested until now and have found to work flawlessly are:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud
  • AWS
  • Alibaba
  • Digital Ocean

Examples

Samples of which type of companies should do which type of installation:

Banks

Generally banks are by law required to have everything on-prem. So the first step would be the best solution for banks

New companies

If a company doesn’t have an ARC and is planning to have one, then the most important step would be the option with the least initial investment. That would be step 3. They don’t have to buy any hardware other than receivers (optional as most companies now have soft receivers).

Active companies with at least 20,000 subscribers

These companies generally like to have the control of the database in the company as they are making more and more connections to 3rd party solutions and use the database as a central point of data sharing. So the best step for this solution would be step 2.

Companies that just do monitoring and have multiple installer companies

As these types of companies generally have to have certain solutions tailor made for each company, having the application on-prem is the best alternative. So step 4 would be the best solution for this type of company.
